We have some exciting news from the Apricot Product team! In 2019, Apricot will no longer need downtime for scheduled monthly maintenance! That’s right – no more scheduled times when you will not be able to access Apricot.
At Social Solutions, we know that you have a lot of work to do, and it’s our job to make tracking and managing outcomes easier so that you have more time to dedicate to other tasks. We want to make the management of your data as easy as possible, and we want you to have access to that data at all times.
From Matt Kraft, VP of Engineering, “Downtime is death. We found a way to cheat it.” All kidding aside, Kraft elaborated that technically speaking, “[Apricot] patches servers incrementally now and against secondary servers. This avoids an all at once update that required downtime.” He explains, with this new, no-downtime upgrade process, our development department is aiming high and mitigating risk. While we can’t reveal the exact ingredients of our secret sauce for how we’ve achieved this, it’s safe to say this is a huge accomplishment that the team is excited to share with you all.
Not only does this mean no more downtime, but also no more downtime EMAILS. We know that you probably receive a lot of emails, so we’re thrilled to be able to help reduce the load. Instead of emails, we are going to start using our Intercom chat feature much more frequently. With Intercom, we can send you real-time notifications about scheduled maintenance and let you know about new features or changes coming soon to Apricot.
