It’s often hard to find silver linings in a time of crisis, especially when uncertainty continues to disrupt the very nature of our society, families and livelihood. Yet, one silver lining remains strong during this difficult time: our ability to come together to help those around us. Through #GivingTuesdayNow, we have seen that together we can show perseverance, hope and strength when we act in unity.
The GivingTuesday movement has promoted the principle of uniting to give for nearly a decade using a simple idea: taking one day to encourage people across the world to give back and do good. Since 2012, GivingTuesday has unleashed the power of individual people and charitable organizations to transform their communities and the world. Now, with COVID-19 uniting the world in crisis, a movement to unite everyone through goodness and generosity is needed more than ever.
When the GivingTuesday organization put together #GivingTuesdayNow in response to the critical needs caused by the current pandemic, millions of people from all over the world came together and expressed their generosity through acts of kindness, donations of goods, time and money, notes of compassion, advocacy for causes, and care for family and friends.
Social Solutions + #GivingTuesdayNow
At Social Solutions, we hear the demands and challenges you have been facing during this crisis, and on behalf of the sectors we support, we wanted to join the #GivingTuesdayNow movement in a big way. So as a company, we celebrated #GivingTuesdayNow by matching any employee donation made to a charity of their choice, and together we donated more than $18,000 to social good organizations around the globe.
We have been in awe of the many nonprofit and public sector organizations we work with, and we remain inspired by your ability to get creative and work tirelessly to continue delivering for the people who need you. And across our company, we are so proud of the ways our own people have stepped up to give back to a variety of change-making organizations.
In the comprehensive #GivingTuesdayNow recap report, GivingTuesday CEO Asha Curran said, “This show of unity is a reminder that we are all connected and we are all generous, even when we are uncertain and afraid. We must now take the energy and inspiration of this moment forward to establish stronger habits of generosity, to think about the good we can create in the world every day.”
From Social Solutions, we’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone everywhere who participated in the #GivingTuesdayNow movement and showcased the power of uniting in generosity during these trying times. We truly could not do this without one another.
