The health and human services sector is experiencing deep funding cuts and flat charitable giving that leave organizations ill-equipped to address the complex issues facing their communities. The important work of human services is simply not resonating with the public.

The National Human Services Assembly’s Reframing Initiative seeks to change that by building public understanding of the human services sector to increase civic participation, deepen civic support, and ultimately help organizations raise more funds to reach their full potential.

The Assembly conducted in-depth research on the sector’s current communications strategies and has developed an evidence-based strategy for reframing the work of the sector. In this webinar, you will hear the findings from this groundbreaking research and learn how to help lead efforts to create a cohesive voice for human services.


Ilsa Flanagan partners with forward thinking leaders to design bold and groundbreaking solutions to society’s most complex problems. She is currently leading the National Human Services Assembly’s Reframing Initiative, mobilizing the sector to integrate research-based communications to deepen understanding of human needs and encourage more vibrant civic participation for social change.
Prior to launching her own consulting practice, Ilsa was the founding director of several organization-wide initiatives focused on social and environmental change in the corporate and higher education sectors, including the University of Chicago and LaSalle Bank. Earlier in her career she spent several years in the United Way system, including as vice president for public policy at United Way of America.

Ilsa is an attorney and graduate of The American University Law School in Washington, DC. She received her undergraduate degree from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.


Diana Parks is the Product Marketing Manager at Social Solutions. She conducts research on public policy and nonprofit and public sector market needs to inform product development. She also works closely with ETO and Apricot customers to highlight their successes. Prior to joining Social Solutions, Diana worked for Maryland’s Department of Public Safety, ensuring equal access to services for all inmates and patrons regardless of primary language spoken.
