“In the right space at the right time.”

For 18 years, Social Solutions has been empowering non-profit organizations with technology they can leverage to have an even greater impact on the people they serve. Throughout that time, it has been our mission to develop and innovate tools that respond to organizations’ specific needs and respond to requirements and challenges specific to the sector.

In his recent profile of Social Solutions and our investment from Ballmer Group, Ade Adeniji from Inside Philanthropy writes that “given the number of funders looking to move the needle on education, often by focusing on specific niches like STEM education for girls or students at risk of dropping out, Social Solutions is in the right space at the right time.”

We agree wholeheartedly that we are in the right space at the right time, but we define our “space” more broadly. While Adeniji is referring to the K-12 youth-development space, we think the “right space” is nonprofit technology.

Adeniji is right that there has never been a better time to be serving the nonprofit sector. Charitable giving in 2017 was at an all-time high, with an estimated $410 billion donated—an increase of 5.2% from 2016. Across the U.S., people are becoming more educated and more active on social issues, and they are looking to non-profit organizations to make a difference on issues, including: youth and child services, homelessness, victim services, workforce support, and recidivism and reentry for people transitioning out of incarceration.

In the nonprofit world, more dollars mean the potential for a greater impact. And donors are increasingly savvy, wanting to see how their donations are making a difference. Our belief—and the reason Ballmer Group chose to invest in Social Solutions—is that the solutions we provide enable non-profit organizations to have an exponentially greater impact in the communities they serve. Technology facilitates operations by tracking milestones, providing relevant alerts and insights and managing workflows. At the same time, it tracks inputs and outcomes to more easily report to donors— ultimately helping organizations make the case for new and repeat donations.

No matter the space an organization is working in, the time is now for organizations to invest in technology that will allow them to serve more people and attract more donors.
