Capital IDEA aims to empower all income-eligible Austin residents with education and training programs, built so that they can help fill a critical need for skilled and caring workers in the local Austin community. They focus on current adults in the workforce, as they will make up the majority of the workforce over the next two to three decades, and strive to provide them with advancement opportunities to give the poor working adults in Central Texas access to successful employment.
El Buen Samaritano
El Buen Samaritano helps vulnerable families in the Central Texas region build healthier futures through ESL and computer literacy classes, tutoring and summer programs, and access to health and basic needs services. They connect people in need with opportunities and resources that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to access, pouring investments and resources into Austin’s local community.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes, Inc.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes provides food, clothing, hygiene products, and other necessary items to the homeless community of Austin. Loaded with meals and volunteers their food truck hits the streets seven nights a week, 365 days a year making Mobile Loaves & Fishes the largest prepared feeding program serving the working poor and homeless communities in Austin. They’ve served over 5 million meals with the help of their 19,000 volunteers and have become the largest community-based model in the country that serves homeless communities since beginning their program in 2005.
SIMS Foundation, Inc.
SIMS Foundation provides addiction recovery and mental health services for Austin musicians, music industry professionals, and their families to support the well-being of the Austin music community. They provide access to a wide network of therapists, psychiatrists, and other mental health and substance abuse specialists so Austin can keep being the best place for live music.
Wonders & Worries, INC.
Wonders & Worries helps children and teenagers reach their full potential, despite a parent’s serious illness. As a child or teen, having a parent diagnosed with a life-changing illness can negatively affect their development and ability to succeed and increases their risk for behavioral, emotional, and academic problems. The programs at Wonders & Worries are proven to increase coping mechanisms and decrease depression and anxiety in both parents and their children, helping the entire family to live as normal a life as possible.
