A Note From the CEO—What to Expect from Ballmer Group’s Investment Into SSG

Today, Ballmer Group announced that over the next five years it is investing $59 million in Social Solutions to help radically accelerate our product roadmap and expand access to our Apricot software for organizations working with K-12 populations.

This strategic alliance between Ballmer Group and Social Solutions will enable us to provide our comprehensive technology solutions to school districts, nonprofits, and government entities as they help every student live up to her or his full potential. The new features, coupled with the broader adoption of Apricot, will link together data and insights from all the stakeholders and organizations involved in a child’s life to provide a 360-degree view of that child and the services available to her or him.

In addition to Ballmer Group’s financial commitment, I am thrilled that Steve Ballmer will be joining Social Solutions’ Board as a Board Observer. Steve and I share a passion for implementing great ideas and a belief that technology and data, when designed and leveraged strategically, can have the greatest impact on an organization’s ability to scale. I can’t wait to work with him, and I know that Social Solutions will greatly benefit from his insights on philanthropic causes, technology, and business.

I am extremely proud of what has led us to this point, and for what is to come. Our mission has always been to help people change lives. Ballmer Group’s commitment to us, and specifically to Apricot, shows a belief in our mission and our ability to help organizations move the needle on social issues. It is validation—coming from one of the greatest tech minds of our time—that we are providing critical technology that has a significant impact on organizations as they work to make a difference in people’s lives.

Over the coming weeks, we will provide additional information about our partnership, our product roadmap, and our engagement with organizations working across K-12 education.
