Funding is one of the things nonprofit organizations think about most. Gaining new funding and retaining funding from year to year are high-stake concerns. When it comes to what funders want, it’s best to listen to nonprofit funders themselves.
As a follow-up to our research in What Funders Want: Foundation Reporting Study, we wanted to take a deeper look into the specifics of what funders who give to nonprofits look for from organizations that apply for their grants. What do nonprofit funders really want?
More than 4 out of 5 (83%) of funders say, when it comes to nonprofits, Impact is the most important consideration for funding. Across all nonprofit sectors, 78% of nonprofit funders say that impact is the foremost factor in the decision-making process.
Positioning yourself to gain more funding by proving your impact will set you apart from other applicants. Working with case management software is one key decision to show your impact at any given time. Constantly collecting the right data to report on will make it easier for your organization to show impact to nonprofit funders. The more you can show the impact you’re having, the better position you’ll be in to gain funding, which can help you create more impact within the communities you serve.
