Matt Schubert, CEO & Chairman of the Board
As the CEO of Social Solutions, Matt has been instrumental in expanding access to capital, attracting industry talent, forging inroads into the government sector, bringing the vision of an ETO City to reality, and effectively positioning Social Solutions for continued growth. Under Matt’s leadership the company has experienced exponential growth and was named Technology Company of the Year in 2007.  In recognition of his leadership, Matt was selected as a TiE-Smith Fellow in Entrepreneurship.

Prior to joining Social Solutions in January of 2005, Matt led the emergence of the Federal Health and Human Services practice area for Microsoft Consulting Services.  During his tenure at Microsoft, Matt was also an active member of the Board of Advisors for Social Solutions.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Matt served for 9 years at e.magination (a high growth technology services firm).  He served in a variety of roles that included project management, partner management, sales support, sales management, CTO & Senior VP.  Matt’s product development focus emerged early on as he founded a live chat support product (Livefluence) which was spun out as a separate company under the name Velaro (www.Velaro.com); he was also responsible for a product offering (Powerblock) which provided a set of .NET building blocks designed to reduce development time in high performing custom software applications. 

 

Steve Butz, President and Founder
Steve Butz has spent his career in human services. Throughout years of work as a counselor, teacher and case manager, Steve maintained a steady focus on and dedication to improving data collection, outcome achievement, and accountability for his students and his programs. His innovative programs, courses, and performance management tools continue to be hallmarks of each of those organizations in which he served.

In July 1999, Steve leveraged his own human services expertise and his commitment to outcomes measurement to found Social Solutions with partners Vince Griffith and Adrian Bordone. Their mission for Social Solutions is to challenge and equip human service providers and their funders to turn good intent into measurable change by relating efforts to outcomes. Today, Social Solutions serves thousands organizations throughout the United States and Canada with its ETO Software.

Born and raised in Maryland, Steve served for four years in the United States Navy after graduating from high school. Aboard the nuclear submarine USS Alexander Hamilton, Steve rose to the rank of Petty Officer, Second Class and achieved Top Secret Clearance before resigning to pursue educational goals.

Steve graduated magna cum laude, from Loyola College of Baltimore. While attending Loyola, he earned his captain’s license and began teaching inner-city youth aboard the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s training vessel, the Snowgoose. Steve is married and has three children.

 

Ed Gillooley, CFO
Ed is a seasoned financial professional with 20 plus years experience. He is a “business builder,” with experience taking companies from pre-revenue through successful exit. Ed has a noteworthy track record mitigating risk in new ventures through disciplined financial analysis and control.  

As Chief Financial Officer & Principal of Insight Interactive Group, he helped grow the company from concept into the ninth-largest independent interactive agency in the country in under 5 years, showing a profit each year. 

As Vice President of Finance at Software Consulting Group, he was the “Finance Partner” on a team that grew this IT Service Provider from $5 million to an $18 million run rate in 18 months, all while accelerating gross and net margins. 

Ed’s corporate experience began at Commodore International, then an $800 million computer manufacturer and reseller, where he served in various capacities including Controller of Commodore’s Research and Development subsidiary and Director of Financial Planning for the parent company.  

Ed’s consulting experience includes strategic financial planning support to the leader in personal identification and verification technology, financial planning and modeling to a private equity - backed maker of confectioneries, and interim CFO Services to a number of privately held, high growth companies on the East Cost.

Ed earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Drexel University, with dual majors in Finance and Economics.

 
Jeff Mason, VP of Marketing
As Social Solutions Vice President of Marketing, Jeff oversees all marketing activities, including public relations, branding and lead generation. Jeff brings more than 20 years of marketing and management experience to social solutions. Jeff came to Social Solutions from Artifact Software, a company he co-founded. With Artifact Jeff was responsible for marketing and product management. 

Prior to Artifact, Jeff served as Sequoia Software's (NASDAQ: SQSW) Vice President of Marketing where he played an integral role in developing Sequoia into a marketing leading, publicly traded organization. Jeff's responsibilities included branding/positioning/messaging strategy, public relations, analyst relations, lead generation, and market research analysis. With Sequoia, Jeff built a world-class international marketing department, established brand recognition for Sequoia in the portal software space, and contributed to Sequoia's continued revenue growth until Sequoia was acquired by Citrix Systems (NASDAQ: CTXS) in May 2001.

During the Citrix acquisition, Jeff played a major role in integrating Sequoia’s Marketing Personnel into various aspects of the Citrix organization. After the acquisition, Jeff helped to establish the Citrix Solution Marketing Group and successfully brought to market the Citrix Business Continuity Solution.

Prior to working for a software development organization Jeff held several sales and marketing positions with American Home Products Corporation and IMED Corporation marketing a variety of medical technologies to independent hospitals, HMO's and national health care systems.

Jeff has a B.S. degree in marketing from the Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A from Loyola College.
