Steve Butz, President and Founder
Steve Butz has spent his career in human services. Throughout years of
work as a counselor, teacher and case manager, Steve maintained a
steady focus on and dedication to improving data collection, outcome
achievement, and accountability for his students and his programs. His
innovative programs, courses, and performance management tools continue
to be hallmarks of each of those organizations in which he served.
In July 1999, Steve leveraged his own human services expertise and his
commitment to outcomes measurement to found Social Solutions with
partners Vince Griffith and Adrian Bordone. Their mission for Social
Solutions is to challenge and equip human service providers and their
funders to turn good intent into measurable change by relating efforts
to outcomes. Today, Social Solutions serves thousands organizations
throughout the United States and Canada with its ETO Software.
Born and raised in Maryland, Steve served for four years in the United
States Navy after graduating from high school. Aboard the nuclear
submarine USS Alexander Hamilton, Steve rose to the rank of Petty
Officer, Second Class and achieved Top Secret Clearance before
resigning to pursue educational goals.
Steve graduated magna
cum laude, from Loyola College of Baltimore. While attending Loyola, he
earned his captain’s license and began teaching inner-city youth aboard
the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s training vessel, the Snowgoose. Steve
is married and has three children.
