ETO Software® Helps the Goodwill Industries of Northern Florida
Manage its WIPA Project plus other Programs

Goodwill Northern Florida
For over sixty years, Goodwill of North Florida has been a leader in helping people fulfill their dreams through work: dreams of independence, self-respect and the chance to succeed.

Goodwill of North Florida serves over 15,000 individuals with disabilities and special needs annually and over 7,300 of these individuals are placed into employment. The first year earnings generated by these individuals total over $36,000,000. As a WIPA project, Goodwill of North Florida serves 21 counties in Florida.

Goodwill is one of 104 WIPA Projects in the country. They contract with Social Security to provide information and planning services about work and Work Incentives. Work Incentives are special rules that make it possible for people with disabilities receiving Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to work and still receive monthly payments and Medicare or Medicaid.

The Challenge

Like many Non-profit organizations, Goodwill of Northern Florida was increasingly challenged by the demanding task of managing all the necessary data to effectively run their programs and report to their board. Goodwill wanted to find a software system that would help them not only manage their WIPA project but their other programs as well.

“We needed case management software instead of a database to enter information into. We wanted to be able to track people. ETO had more functionality and was less expensive than other software we researched,” said Josh Wadsworth, WIPA Program Coordinator.

“When the one that was better was also the one that was less expensive, it made the choice pretty easy,” said Josh Wadsworth.

The Implementation

Goodwill started using ETO in March 2007 to manage all their programs. Josh Wadsworth is now able to see daily what’s going on in the Employment Resource Center, the School Transition Program. These programs are run from offices located in separate facilities from his WIPA project. ETO allows him to run staff management reports and see which clients are in multiple programs. “It is helpful to see what’s going on in other offices,” says WIPA Program Coordinator Josh Wadsworth. “My WIPA I & R program is open all the time on my desktop. So if a person calls in and is just exploring the idea of going back to work, I can immediately enter them in and be reminded to follow up and see if they are still interested in going back to work. If they come in for an appointment, I move them into the WIPA program.”

The Results

“Now I can click a button and get the reports I need. It’s also a lot easier to break activities down by county so we can best utilize resources and target outreach,” said Josh Wadsworth. “The software even helps make the To-Do List for us. Now I come in and open my To-Do List and see what I have scheduled for the day.”
