Engaging employers is key to providing young people with career exposure and preparation opportunities that help them develop the skills they need to be successful in a 21st century, global economy. In this webinar about effective employer engagement strategies, Public/Private Ventures’ Marty Miles moderates a discussion featuring the perspectives of employers, intermediaries and youth development agencies. Speakers are engaged with WorkReady Philadelphia, an initiative managed by the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN), which employed more than 8,000 youth last year, over 1,000 of which are funded and supported by employers.
Last year, PYN worked with Citizens Bank and the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board to pilot WorkReady Pittsburgh, a program based on the Philadelphia model. Most recently, WorkReady Philadelphia was invited to speak on a panel at the White House’s Summer Jobs+ Summit , a call to action to American businesses, non-profits and government entities to put young people to work this summer.
