The month of May is Mental Health Month in Maryland.

On May 4th, I attended my second meeting of the Baltimore Mental Health Systems’ Board of Directors. I am still learning about BMHS and its critical mission in the city of Baltimore, and I continue to meet wonderful people representing many different programs and agencies. In addition to all of the things we typically cover in board meetings, like budgets, financial performance, nominations for new board members, and reports from various board committees, we also had presentations from the Mental Health Association of Maryland, as well as The Family League of Baltimore City (an ETO client). Making a Difference, Getting Involved with Baltimore Mental Health Systems

When our new CEO at Social Solutions first came on board, one of the first things discussed was community involvement and volunteering. It did not take me long to figure out that these expectations included senior managers being actively involved in some way as volunteers in the non profit sector.
