Jay Love, Chief Executive Officer

Jay B. Love is the CEO of Social Solutions.  Prior to his current role Jay was Senior Vice President of the Arts and Cultural Division of Blackbaud.  Blackbaud serves more than 22,000 non-profits throughout the world.  Prior to Blackbaud, he was the President and CEO of eTapestry for 11 years.

Prior to starting eTapestry, Jay served 14 years as President and CEO of Master Software Corporation.  MSC provided a widely used family of database products for the non-profit sector called Fund-Master. 

Jay is a well-known speaker for the charity sector in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia and the United Kingdom, having delivered over 1,000 speeches.  He is a graduate of Butler University with a B.S. in Business Administration.  He currently serves on the Board of the Indiana based Gleaners Food Bank and the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy.  He is currently a member of AFP and AHP.   For AFP, he serves as Chairman of the Industry Partners Council and as a member of the Ethics Committee.  He and his wife Christie are Co-Chairs for the Indianapolis YMCA 2009 Capital Campaign.

Steve Butz, Founder

In 2000, after a career working as a counselor, teacher and case manager on the front lines of the human services industry in Baltimore, Steve founded Social Solutions with partners Vince Griffith and Adrian Bordone.

Their mission for Social Solutions is to challenge and equip human service providers and their funders to turn good intent into measurable change by relating efforts to outcomes. Today, Social Solutions serves thousands of organizations throughout the United States and Canada with its Efforts to Outcomes (ETO ™) Software.

In 2008, Steve established the Superstar Foundation, which recognizes and rewards the nation’s highest performing human service professionals with cash grants on an annual basis.

Additionally, Steve is a member of the Alliance for Effective Social Investing. The Alliance for Effective Social Investing is a collection of the nation’s most influential leaders in the nonprofit sector whose mission is to drive more funds to high-performing nonprofits by helping donors to adopt sound social investing practices.

Steve is an expert on nonprofit effectiveness and is frequently interviewed by regional and national media including the Washington Post, Washington Business Journal, Baltimore Sun, New Jersey Star Ledger, Fast Company and the Chronicle of Philanthropy, among others. Steve has also appeared as a guest on Bloomberg radio, NPR Morning Edition and the Kojo Nnamdi show.

Steve was born and raised in Maryland and graduated magna cum laude, from Loyola College of Baltimore.

Harry Chiu, Chief Operating Officer

Harry Chiu brings over 25 years of experience in software operations. His previous experience includes Executive Director of product management and software development at Kenan Systems. At Kenan he helped them grow from a small 50 person company to a $500 million software company that was acquired by Lucent, and later acquired by Comverse Systems. He has also held roles of VP of Professional Services at Datria Systems and most recently VP and General Manager at Fundware a division focused on providing Fund Accounting solutions to non profits and City and Counties. Harry holds a BS and MS in engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

Brian Hullinger, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Brian is a talented, energetic, and experienced software and information technology executive.  His record of accomplishment with high growth software companies is impressive. Even more importantly, he has a reputation for satisfying customers and helping them to achieve their objectives.

Brian brings over twenty years of sales and marketing experience to Social Solutions. As Vice President of Global Sales and Account Management at Concur Technologies (formerly Gelco Expense Management), Brian helped increase sales to $64 million dollars per year in recurring revenues. He also launched European sales operations, expanding sales reach outside of North America. Brian played a similar role in the successes of Norstan Communications, Skytel, and other industry leading software and technology companies.

Brian is an alumnus of Indiana University Northwest, with a degree in Business Management. Brian is also an alumnus of the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management where he was a LEAD Program graduate.

Matt Schubert, General Manager, Public Sector

Matt serves as General Manager, Public Sector, bringing his passion for enabling public, private, and nonprofit organizations to collaborate, save time, and improve service quality and effectiveness.  Prior to this role, Matt positioned Social Solutions for continued growth as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Matt continues to bring his passion for enabling public, private, and nonprofit organizations to collaborate, save time, and improve service quality and effectiveness. Prior to joining Social Solutions in January of 2005, Matt led the emergence of the Federal Health and Human Services practice area for Microsoft Consulting Services. During his tenure at Microsoft, Matt was also an active member of the Board of Advisors for Social Solutions. Prior to joining Microsoft, Matt served for 9 years at e.magination (a high growth technology services firm). He served in a variety of roles that included project management, partner management, sales support, sales management, CTO & Senior VP.

Under Matt’s leadership, Social Solutions grew revenue ten-fold, earned Maryland Technology Company of the Year in 2006, and was named Maryland Technology Company of the Year in 2007. In recognition of his leadership, Matt was selected as a TiE-Smith Fellow in Entrepreneurship.
