Development Manager

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of developers and contractors
  • Work with developers and contractors to manage work being completed once it is scheduled
  • Manage contractors ensuring they are working within our development parameters and give us their deliverables on time
  • Meet weekly with direct reports
  • Do quarterly reviews for direct reports
  • Manage Application Solutions (Custom) Queue of development work
  • Work with Internal staff to develop requirements, create estimates, and set priorities
  • Estimate quotes that are entered weekly. Work with product development and person requesting the quote to provide estimate for the solution that will work best for the customer.
  • Triage quotes prior to the estimates meeting to ensure that they do not need additional documentation or requirements in order to give an estimate
  • Provide estimated delivery dates for quotes based on current workload and staffing
  • Report weekly on status of Application Solutions work to management and ensure this is in a location where all interested groups (sales, support, and professional services) can access and understand the current status of their requests.
  • Manage contractors and internal staff to ensure that all items tied to a core release do not go without being fulfilled for more than 2 release cycles
  • Manage contractors and internal staff to achieve an average of 60 days or less for all work that is not tied to a core release.
  • Monthly reporting to Accounting department on billable projects
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding monthly revenue and net contribution targets for Application Solutions group
  • Work with QA team to create test cases for Application Solutions work and ensure that the items are tested
  • Triage requirements to ensure that they are at level where developer can take on work. When they are not detailed enough, work with internal staff and clients to get them ready.
  • Contribute to internal and customer facing documentation regarding new functionality being released
  • Ensure best practices procedures and processes are followed, or create them if they do not exist

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years in a Development Lead or Development Management role on a software product
  • 2+ years Project Management experience
  • 3+ years development experience in a Microsoft environment
