June 2 - D.C. Area Nonprofit Chooses Social Solutions to Improve Effectiveness

BALTIMORE – Social Solutions, the leading provider of nonprofit performance management software for the human services sector, today announced Nueva Vida, a Washington, D.C. area nonprofit that provides a support network for Latinas with cancer, as the most recent adopter of its Efforts to Outcomes (ETO™) software.  The organization has turned to Social Solutions to help track program efforts and relate them to outcomes in order to increase organizational effectiveness and efficiency.

Founded by human service workers, Social Solutions seeks to revolutionize the effectiveness of human service organizations by helping them align their missions, funders’ expectations, and the daily work of their staffs. Social Solutions' ETO software provides a central platform that makes it possible to understand and manage the performance of point of service staff, individual agencies, and the community of services as a whole.

Nueva Vida was founded in 1996 by a group of Latina breast cancer survivors and health professionals who wanted to address the lack of culturally sensitive cancer support services for the Latino community in the Washington area. The organization’s mission is to support, inform and empower Latinas whose lives are affected by cancer, and to advocate for and facilitate the timely access to state of the art cancer care -- including screening, diagnosis, treatment and support -- for all Latinas through a network of access, patient navigator and survivorship programs and services.  The organization also provides a bilingual patient resource center with up-to-date information on breast health and breast and cervical cancer care.

“Over the years we have continued to see an increasing need for breast and cervical cancer support and services in our local community. Therefore, we saw the need for a centralized solution that would help us to restructure the way we are collecting data so that Nueva Vida can provide the best service possible, and ETO software was the answer,” said Fedra Sanchez, access and outreach coordinator at Nueva Vida.

Nueva Vida’s use of ETO software was made possible by a Best Practices in Breast Cancer Advocacy Award®, presented to the organization by the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund (NBCCF) and underwritten by the Breast Cancer Fund of National Philanthropic Trust. Nueva Vida was selected as one of four winners of the Award in 2007 for its strategic, high-impact work in research on Latinas with breast cancer.

“We anticipate that the system will allow us to really look at the efficiency of our programs, and translate that not only into a basis for additional grants, but to give us the ability to continue to collaborate in community participatory research and to be a reliable source for scientists and researchers in the field,” said the Executive Director of Nueva Vida Larisa Caicedo.

About Social Solutions and ETO Software
Social Solutions challenges and equips human service providers and their funders to turn good intent into measurable change by relating efforts to outcomes.  The company’s ETO (Efforts to Outcomes) performance management software, tailored to the unique mission of each nonprofit, gives organizations a clear picture of which efforts are having the greatest impact on the social issues they strive to address. With this knowledge, organizations can reinforce what's working, adjust what isn't, and more easily report quantified successes to key stakeholders.
