The Choice Neighborhoods Initiative (CNI) is the next iteration of Hope VI, a US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funded program created to improve the quality of life for low-income communities by revitalizing public housing projects. CNI will provide competitive grants to transform and grow severely distressed communities into thriving, sustainable mixed-income neighborhoods. To provide comprehensive programming, CNI will operate in tandem with the US Department of Education’s Promise Neighborhoods initiative. Based on the success of Harlem Children’s Zone®, a collaborative, community-based organization that has achieved remarkable outcomes, Promise Neighborhoods will combat poverty and improve life outcomes by providing children and teenagers with intensive, high-quality education. Working together, CNI and Promise Neighborhoods will revitalize severely distressed communities by investing in housing, educational opportunities and access to jobs.
Being a market leader in early childhood learning and place-based, collaborative social services, as well as the provider of choice for the Harlem Children’s Zone®, Social Solutions’ Efforts to Outcomes (ETO™) software is the ideal assessment software for aspiring Choice Neighborhoods. For service providers, the software saves time and frustration by allowing you to generate reports with the click of a button. For grant coordinators, ETO software allows fast, secure access to timely and accurate information, so you can monitor the progress of the programs that receive funding. And at the national and federal level, ETO software empowers agencies like HUD to measure program-specific efforts and relate them to the intended outcomes, so you can see what works and strategically direct resources where they can do the greatest good, providing a higher level of transparency and accountability.
